Shutterfly Classroom Sites and Baby Sites Named Winners of The National Parenting Center’s 2010 Seal of Approval

Nov 17, 2010

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Shutterfly, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFLY), an Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service, today announced that it has been named winner of The National Parenting Center’s 2010 Seal of Approval for Shutterfly Classroom sites and Baby sites. The National Parenting Center was founded in July of 1989 with the intention of providing the most comprehensive and responsible parenting advice to parents everywhere. The Seal of Approval program was designed to help create better informed parents as they tackle the challenges of parenting in the new millennium. Shutterfly was honored in the “website” category.

“The newest Shutterfly Share sites, Baby and Classroom, impressed our parent reviewers again this year, following in the footsteps of previously submitted services from the popular online photo site. By tailoring their free web site service to meet the specific needs of parents, beginning with raising a newborn up through the school years, Shutterfly has created a system to share your most precious photos,” said David Katzner, president, The National Parenting Center. “Their sites allow you to communicate, with friends and loved ones, the important milestones of your child’s life. Our reviewers particularly appreciated how the classroom sites allowed for easier parent/teacher communication during these important, formative school years.”

“We created Shutterfly Share sites with parents in mind, so we are especially honored to be recognized by TNPC for our Classroom and Baby sites,” said Peter Elarde, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Shutterfly. “Because many parents prefer a solution that doesn’t require membership in a social network and all that entails, we made sure our Share sites are easy to customize, have transparent privacy controls that are simple to navigate and manage and can act as social and memory sharing hubs for families, classrooms, teams, and other groups.”

Shutterfly Share sites are free, personal websites that can be customized with background designs and occasion focused templates like baby, classroom and sports teams. Each site offers a customizable web address that can be password protected, comes with a dedicated email address and includes specialized communication and collaboration tools like event calendars, volunteer sign-up sheets, and activity feeds. All photos posted to Shutterfly Share sites are stored free of charge indefinitely at Shutterfly.com and can be used to create photo books, cards and other merchandise. More than 2.5 million Share sites have been created since they were first introduced in 2008. To learn more about Shutterfly Share sites, please visit www.shutterfly.com/sharesite.
