Feb 12, 2001

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (February 12, 2001) — Shutterfly, the leading online photo service, won the “Excellence in Imaging” award for “Best Digital Imaging or Service” at the fourth annual Digital Focus event. The award is sponsored by Popular Science magazine and leading technology showcase event company Pepcom, and recognizes top innovations in digital imaging and digital video. Shutterfly was also recognized by The Digital Marketing Association winning the 2001 DIMA award for “Outstanding Promotion of Online Photo Sharing and Processing”. Both awards were presented to Shutterfly Saturday at PMA 2001, the largest annual international photo imaging convention and trade show, in Orlando, Florida.

“We are proud to be recognized by our peers for delivering the best quality and service in the online photo industry,” said Jayne Spiegelman, Shutterfly Co-Founder and CEO. “We constantly strive to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience and we will continue to offer new products and services to further enhance that experience.”

These awards come on the heels of today’s announcement that Shutterfly will ally with leading digital technology retailer Best Buy to provide services for Best Buy’s new Online Photo Center. Created, managed and marketed by Shutterfly, the Photo Center will provide an easy way for Best Buy customers to learn more about digital photography and have a place to store, enhance, and print their digital pictures.

Shutterfly is also continuing to receive strong press accolades for its quality products and services. Family PC’s ‘Guide to Photo Services’ March 2001 issue names Shutterfly as a top Web site. With an overall score of 94 percent out of a possible 100, Shutterfly surpassed the competition with high marks for uploading photos, ease-of-use and print quality.
